Obama "hopes to hold discussions with Prime Minister on a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues, including the Alliance for Security US-Japan economic and trade issues and deepening of bilateral cooperation," said the White House a statement.

Both leaders also discussed matters relating to regional and global security, the note stated.
